Graveside services for John Graham, 80, of Athens, are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2021 at Riley Cemetery in Pittsburg. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Dogwood Church in Athens with Bro. Dave McGee and Pastor Keith Graham officiating with a memorial visitation to follow until 12:00 p.m.
Wanda Faye Nnadozie passed away March 25, 2021 at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, Texas at the age of 63.
Human nature loves to find scapegoats – somebody or something we can blame for our problems or to whom we can direct our anger when we don’t know who else to blame. We blame the government, the president, liberals, conservatives, the media, guns, illegal immigrants, our mothers-in-law and the Dallas Cowboys.
I have a funny feeling that the reason my friends and neighbors don’t make any sort of comment about the stories I’ve written is because if you’ve read one story about cats, foxes, coffee mugs, mowing the yard, the meaning of life, liberty, space, and the final frontier – well, you’ve read them all.
Last month’s bitter winter weather sadly claimed the lives of hundreds of Texas Dogs. Lett These dogs perished unnecessarily to the Edi in the storm. As a volunteer for Texas Humane Legislation Network, we received many phone calls and pictures from across Texas of dogs freezing and dying. One picture imprinted on my mind, is of one such dog in our own Camp County. The dog was chained outside without shelter. It’s unfathomable to suffer freezing to death. Mostly importantly, from a human safety perspective, dogs living on the end of a chain are more aggressive and unpredictable. Children have been attacked and some fatally injured by their family dog who lived chained outside.
