NTCC GED commencement ceremony planned

The Northeast Texas Community College Adult Education and Literacy program will hold its General Education Development (GED) commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. All students who have completed the NTCC GED program during the past year will be honored. Due to COVID restrictions, guest attendance will be limited. Live streaming will be available for family and friends who are unable to attend in person. A brief reception will be held in the Whatley Center foyer after the commencement ceremony.

Wortham becomes newest CASA Advocate

CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties is pleased to welcome Kristen Wortham. Kristen took an oath before the Honorable Judge Loughmiller in Camp County on April 28, 2021. Kristen completed 30 hours of training and courtroom observation. Kristen is the newest CASA Volunteer who has accepted her first case and advocating for children that are in the foster care system. CASA volunteers work for the best interest of the child/children making sure they have a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers are citizens in our community, just like you, that want to make a difference in a child/children’s lives while they are removed from their families and placed in foster care. Archers give $3,000

Archers give $3,000 to NTCC on East Texas Giving Day

The Northeast Texas Community Foundation recently received a check for $3,000 from Drs. Jim and Paula Archer. Jim Archer is pictured (left) presenting the gift to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement. The donation was made through East Texas Giving Day in order to take advantage of available matching opportunities. The funds will provide $2,000 to the NTCC Honors program and $1,000 to the Jim & Paula Archer Science Scholarship. This was one of 93 donations made to NTCC on East Texas Giving Day, where $62,751 was raised for various college programs and clubs. To learn more about giving, contact McCullough at 903-434-8115.
