School board requests public input on funds allocation

ESSER III funds are federal stimulus funds to help schools address student learning loss and costs incurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds must be spent over a three-year period and are designated for one-time or short-term expenditures. Pittsburg ISD will apply for these funds and seeks input from all stakeholders in order to prioritize needs. Urgent blood shortage lingers, even as communities open up from pandemic

Blood is essential every day in hospitals. First responders and disaster preparedness professionals know it is important to maintain a strong community blood supply. That’s why the Piney Woods Regional Advisory Council – Trauma Service Area G (RAC-G) is hosting blood drives throughout East Texas on June 3 to help rebuild the blood supply. All blood drives are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 3, in various communities.

Area remembers the fallen on Memorial Day

Memorial Day fell on Monday, May 31 this year, and local entities showed their pride for our nation’s fallen soldiers. Each business downtown was adorned with American flags, as well as other establishments on 271. At the Veterans Wall of Honor in front of the courthouse, a memorial display was erected. College receives $40,000 from Greater Texas Foundation

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation recently announced it received $40,000 from the Greater Texas Foundation to support the Work4College Program. Dr. Ron Clinton (right), NTCC President, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement, are pictured receiving the gift on behalf of the college. The 2021 Work4College program will kick off on June 7 with more than 80 students participating.
