“What a wonderful fireworks show last night at the Pittsburg Camp County Chamber of Commerce Tri-County Independence Day Blast,” said Chamber Director Sandy Thompson. “We had a huge turnout. Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the show. Thank you to the Pyro Company who started on time and designed a great display. Reserve deputy Phillip Allen escorted on final call after succumbing to illness

On July 2, local first responders honored the legacy of Phillip Allen, a reserve deputy for Camp County Sheriff ’s Office and volunteer firefighter, with a final escort home. Allen was a long-time servant to the community, working as a first responder for more than 40 years.

Pittsburg students do better than state average on STAAR Test

The Texas Education Agency recently released the 2021 STAAR test results, showing the average across the state. Due to the continued distance learning guidelines in schools, students across the state had to take the test online. 80-90% of Pittsburg students have taken STAAR tests online this last year according to PISD Superintendent Terry Waldrep.
