Train derails north of Pittsburg

Train derails north of Pittsburg

At least twenty-four Union Pacific railroad cars derailed on the track north of Pittsburg extending north and south of the crossing over CR 2110 about 1 p.m. on Mar. 6. Still under investigation at press time, crewmembers had cleared the derailed cars from the right of way by Monday afternoon, and planned to have the tracks open for traffic by the morning of Mar. 8. No hazardous spills or flammable cargo was reported, however some auto racks were reported as being part of the cargo. COURTESY PHOTO

CASA in need of volunteers

The call has gone out for volunteers to dedicate a little time, care and compassion to foster children in the area, and CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris County is asking the community to step up to help young lives in need. Their goal is a simple one, and that is to train and supervise volunteers to be a voice in advocating for safe, permanent, nurturing homes for children in the area that desperately need those things.
