The Pittsburg Gazette publisher Kenny Mitchell was recently awarded the Texas Association of Journalism Educators Friend of Journalism award. This award honors those whose instruction, service and/or assistance, financial sponsorship or personal dedication and advocacy all work toward the betterment of scholastic journalism in Texas. An auto-pedestrian accident on June 27 took the life of Tony Daniel Gross, 39.
Carolyn Franks was officially installed as the 2022-2023 District Governor of Rotary International District 5830 on June 24 during a ceremony held at the Whatley Center at NTCC. Because the Rotary year ends on June 30, Franks will actually begin her duties on July 1. Some of these duties will include traveling to the 41 different Rotary Clubs in the district, and leading Rotary into the new year.
