Last Monday, the Pittsburg Pirate baseball team started the 2023 season against the same team it ended the 2022 season against: the Spring Hill Panthers. The game was a stalemate for the first three innings, but the Panthers finished the last few innings stronger as they picked up a 7-1 win over the Pirates.

Laney Davis of Pittsburg was recognized for outstanding academic achievements by being named to Stephen F. Austin State University’s Dean’s List for fall 2022. Davis was one of 1,500 students named to this list.
Drew Marshall was third place medalist with a final score of 84 at the Liberty Eylau Tournament at New Haven Golf Club on February 27. The Pirate Golf Team took third place as a team.
After reaching the bidistrict round last year, the Pittsburg Lady Pirate softball team kicked off the 2023 season on the road in Sabine’s tournament, winning two of their six games in the event.
