In the first event of the season, three members of the Pirate Wrestling Team in two weight classes 170 lb. and 190 lb. competed in the Fourth Annual Bowie Invitational a UIL sponsored event. The event was held at the James Bowie H.S. in Arlington, Friday - Jan. 24 and Saturday – Jan. 25.
The Pirates lost their 4A Region II District 15 Basketball, Jan. 21 to the Paris Wildcats. The Wildcats domination of the boards was a big factor in the game as they were able to out rebound the Pirates under their own goal and able to put missed shots up for a score under their own.
Tuesday night, Jan. 21, the Lady Pirates lost their third 4A Region II District 15 Girls Basketball game in a row against the Paris Lady Wildcats. The simple story of this loss is the three Wildcats 3-point shooters were on target and the Lady Pirates’ 3-point shooters were not.
Week of January 22, 2020 Bob Sandlin — FAIR. Water stained; 51-52 degrees; 0.01’ high. Largemouth bass are fair on crankbaits, jigs, jerkbaits, and spinners fishing shallower than normal structure or ridges. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows with structure. White bass are fair on jigs around piers and boat docks. Catfish are good on worms or stinkbait. Caddo — GOOD. Water stained; 51-52 degrees; 0.96’ high. Largemouth bass are good on rigged plastic worms and spinnerbaits with vegetation in Clinton Lake, Back Lake, and Carter Lake. Crappie are good on smaller minnows and jigs fishing shallow gaps in vegetation. White bass are fair on small spinners in the open waters. Chain Pickerel are fair. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and live bait throughout the shallow reservoir.
Bob Sandlin — FAIR. Water stained; 51-52 degrees; 0.08’ low. Largemouth bass are fair on crankbaits, jigs, jerkbaits, and spinners looking for underwater timber stretches.
