City offers food safety permit option to local businesses

Pittsburg celebrated Juneteenth on June 18 this year with a March on the streets of Pittsburg, beginning at the Pilgrim Plaza and extending to Fulton and Clayton streets, ending at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.
The Pittsburg ISD planning committee convened on June 13 to discuss further developments concerning plans for the new PISD high school building. Jeff Ball, senior vice president of BWA Architects, discussed these developments with the committee to formulate plans for new construction as well as more security and space.
The Pioneer Peach Queen Association announced Miss Melani Juliana Flores as Peach Queen to reign over the 2022 Pioneer Days Festival September 10-17. Queen Melani is the daughter of Arasele and Alfredo Flores, and is sponsored by Spear “H” Longhorn Ranch.
Past District Governor Carroll Greenwaldt (left) was the guest speaker at the Pittsburg Rotary Club on June 15. Also pictured are Carolyn Franks, soon-to-be District Governor, and Jim Archer. Greenwaldt’s presentation involved the history and purpose of Rotary International, as he reminded members of the organization’s small beginnings. Started by four businessmen, there were 23 members within eight months.
