May I share with you one of my favorite poems? It says it all so much better than I ever could.
Way back in the good old days of 2020, several British meteorologists got together and started thinking about what the weather forecasts in the United Kingdom might look like 30 years from now in 2050 when the Earth is just a wee bit hotter than it is today.
Some of you know where you’re going. You know, north, south, east, and west. You know what you want to do tomorrow and for months in advance. You have everything in place. But will you do if life includes the wrong exit on the path of life? What if you get lost?
One of the things you learn in life, especially when you get older and recognize the fact, is that we don’t always get to call the shots. Things happen in our lives despite our best efforts and often things happen that are not on our list of things to do. Our smart phone calendars can be obsolete when life comes calling unexpectedly, and when those things happen, it is how we choose to react that can set the tone for our days ahead.
