Letter to the Editor
As proud parents, Earl and Deborah Cheney of Pittsburg would like to announce the graduation of their daughter Christina Tindel from The University of Texas at Tyler on April 30, 2021. She has successfully completed a very difficult program and earned a Masters Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Christina started continuing her education after high school by going to Tyler Junior College and earning an Associates Degree in Science. She then completed her Bachelors Degree in Health Studies from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2012. A few years later, she returned to school to earn a second Bachelors Degree, this time in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2017. Since then, she has been employed as a registered nurse for Christus Good Shepherd in Longview on a very busy Cardiac IMC floor. During this time, she has earned multiple awards and recognitions including the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing. Christina also precepts nursing students and orients new and experienced nurses to the floor as well as recently taking on the role of Charge RN for many of her shifts.
We are beyond proud to share her most recent achievement, becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. Christina has earned this title after completing one of the most rigorous courses offered at UT Tyler. This graduate school program is ranked #1 in Texas and #5 nationwide which proves just how difficult it can be. Shortly after graduating with her Masters, she took the national board exam and has now been certified by the state of Texas as a Nurse Practitioner. Again, we are beyond proud to announce the graduation and new titles of our daughter Christina Tindel, MSN, RN, FNP-C.
