It’s about time

We were in Hot Springs most of last week, where my daughter was participating in a national softball tournament. Although the tournament did not go the way they would have liked, I believe they all learned something of huge importance: it’s all about time.

If you play a sport, and are a relatively good athlete, it will not mean much if you are not putting forth the effort to work and get better.

If you have X number of members on a team, but they never get the opportunity to build chemistry away from the field or court, there will almost always be breakdowns on the field.

If you have a relationship where you may speak everyday on the phone, but are never physically together, it is going to be hard to make that relationship work.

If you have a show animal that you are raising, but never go out and work it, except to feed it, it is going to be hard to get the animal to do what you need it to do in the ring.

If you are struggling in a class, but refuse to do you homework or ask for help, it is going to be hard for you to receive the grade that you would like.

If you are a musician who never picks up your instrument to practice, it is going to be hard to succeed on more difficult pieces.

As you look at might not be going well in your life, ask yourself this question: Have you given it time? Have you spent time with that friend you haven’t talked to much in recent days? Have you asked for help on that assignment that is giving you fits? Have you taken the time to really get to know your teammates? Do you take time to talk to those you should be working with? If the answer is no, then I suggest you give it time. Not in a sedentary, waiting for something to change kind of way. Be active, get up and DO SOMETHING to show that you are willing to invest time into what matters most to you.

It is said that you can never MAKE yourself more time. But, I do firmly believe that you can always GIVE more time to the things you love. And when you do, you might just find that you are unstoppable. It’s just all about time.
