Congressman Moran on ESGs harmful impact in East Texas

Congressman Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) released the following statement after his tour of the Priefert Manufacturing facility in Mount Pleasant, highlighting the discriminatory impact woke environmental, social, and governance, known as “ESG,” policy will have on businesses across East Texas: “The radical ESG proposals by the Biden Administration will hurt hardworking, family-owned businesses by backing them into a corner. These ESG proposals prioritize a workforce based on diversity rather than merit. Discriminatory at its core, ESG policies will not achieve the administration’s intended outcome. Strongarming companies into what it can and cannot do will only raise prices for American consumers and will not lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Duke’s Chapel

In 1917, John Duke’s father deeded and gave the land for a new community center three miles east of Pittsburg on a road known as The Duke’s Chapel Road. Residents donated all the materials and labor to establish a building to be used as a church and a school for the community. This was originally a oneroom building and a second room was added later as the number of students increased. A well was dug by hand and each family provided loads of wood for the great heaters needed to keep the rooms warm in winter.
