Willie H. Hooks

On January 28, 2023 Willie Herman Hooks surrounded by his wife and family members was called to his eternal rest.

Willie was born on April 2, 1944 to the late Herman and Susie Mae Hooks in Pittsburg, TX. He was a member of the Church of Christ and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He retired from Lone Star Steel Company on June 30, 2006 after 40 years as a forklift operator.

From his marriage to Wilma are their children: Dexter Hooks, Dallas, TX; Kenneth Hooks, Gladewater, TX; Martez Hooks, Tony Hooks, and Rodrick Hooks of Mt. Pleasant, TX and Sherry Evans, Daingerfield, TX.

Willie was also the father of Mark Howard, Lone Star, TX; Ashley Garner, Dallas, TX; Essesence Walter, Hughes Springs, TX; and Yolanda Stanton, Texarkana, TX.

Willie later married Mari Louise Mays on June 16, 2001.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hooks and his brother Arthel Hooks.

He is survived by his wife Mari Louise Hooks and her son Zachary Xavier Mays (Tara) and granddaughter Rayna, Kansas City, MO; Willie’s children Dexter Hooks (Randy), Dallas, TX; Kenneth Hooks (Laura), Gladewater, TX; Martez Hooks, Mt. Pleasant, TX; Tony Hooks (Carlene), Mt. Pleasant, TX; Rodrick Hooks (Myshell), Mt. Pleasant, TX; Ashley Garner, Dallas, TX; Essesence Walter, Hughes Springs, TX; Sherry Evans, Daingerfield, TX; Yolanda Stanton, Texarkana, TX; Mark Howard, Lone Star, TX and Ambray Armstrong of Pittsburg, TX.

Willie’s sisters are: Ruby Faye (Sandy) Bell, Tyler, TX; Doris Jean Hooks, Fort Worth, TX; and Ruby Faye Minter, Mt. Pleasant, TX. His brother is Harold Ray Hooks (Mary), Longview, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 am – 11 am Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Meyers Northland Chapel 401 Main Street Parkville, MO 64152. The Funeral Service will commence at 11am Saturday at the chapel with Rev. Jeffrey N. Shane officiating. Memories of Willie and condolences to the family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.
