    Ola Mae Turner


December 6, 1924- November 6, 2020

Mrs. Ola Mae Turner attended public schools in Eureka and Corsicana in Navarro County, Texas. She completed her last two years of high school at Douglas High School in Pittsburg, Texas while coming to live with her oldest sister Jimmie L. Jones-Turner.

Mrs. Turner was a retired teacher. She worked as an Home Economics and English teacher with the Mt. Pleasant Independent School District, Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She also worked with the Pittsburg Independent School District as a Junior High English teacher, Elementary General Education Classroom teacher and later as a Elementary and Junior High Special Education Resource teacher until retirement.

She is survived by her three children, Deborah Hiner, Philip Turner, Jr., and Gerald Turner (Adrienne). Grandchildren, Kwame’ Turner, Chonte’ Turner, and Jordan Johnson. One great-grandson Jordan Johnson.

Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by her parents, husband (Rev. Philip Turner, Sr.), four sisters, Jimmie L. Turner, Jerica Mosely, Lena Miller, and Maggie Porter, two brothers, Booker Washington Jones, and James Jones.

A virtual private family service was held on November 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Pine Bluff First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas. Reverend Eddie A. Ballard Pastor/ Master of Ceremonies of Service. Reverend Patrick Lloyd was the Eulogist.

Special thanks to friends, classmates, and the Pine Bluff First Baptist Church family for prayers, words of comfort, calls, cards of comfort, and food provided to the family.

Special thanks to Dr. April Gatson-Willis M.D., the Alinea Family Hospice Care staff, and the Interim Family Care Services of Longview, Texas. The Camp County Ambulance staff and Paramedics, Emergency 911 Response staff, Pittsburg, Texas.

Special thanks to the Johnson Funeral Home, Pittsburg, Texas for final arrangements.
