Tommy Lynn Carpenter

Tommy Lynn Carpenter, 74, of Mt. Vernon, Texas, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at his home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Winnsboro Church of Christ in Winnsboro, Texas (601 E. Coke Rd.). Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Larry Black offciating. Pallbearers will include all 4 of his grandsons and 2 close family friends: Cason Keith, Hunter Keith, Cooper Keith, Cutter Carpenter, Colter Buck and Hunter Davis. Interment will be at the Fuquay Cemetery in the Hopewell Community.

Tommy was born on January 4, 1946 in Pittsburg, Texas to Willis B. (Bill) and Eleanor Pauline (Looney) Carpenter. He married the love of his life, Melanie Ann Guthrie, on August 25, 1965 at the Blodgett Church of Christ in Blodgett, Texas. He worked construction at the Monticello power plant for more than 40 years. Tommy was a faithful Christian and an elder at the Blodgett Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Polly (Looney) Carpenter, his maternal grandparents Robert Austin & Ida (Marshall) Looney and his paternal grandparents, Hedgie and Lucille (Friday) Carpenter; his brother Jimmy Carpenter and sister Sharon Burruss.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Melanie (Guthrie) Carpenter of Mt. Vernon, TX; daughter, Jennifer Keith and husband Marcus of Winnsboro, Texas; son, Andy Carpenter and wife, Mistie of Athens, Texas; Brother, Ted Carpenter of Pittsburg, TX; grandsons, Cason Keith and wife Karly, Hunter Keith and wife Kelsie, Cooper Keith and Cutter Carpenter.
