STANSBURY

Roger Dale Stansbury was a dedicated father, friend, and businessman. He passed away peacefully in his home April 7, 2021.

He was born on April 11, 1946 in DeQueen, Arkansas, and raised in Horatio, Arkansas. He was an only child and a wonderful son to Seldon and Alline Pittman Stansbury. In later years, his parents came to Pittsburg, and after his mother’s death, he invited his father to live with him.

He came to Pittsburg to coach football, and to this day, many of his students call him “Coach”. Once he left teaching and coaching, he continued his support of PHS schools by servicing three terms (2001 to 2008) on the school board.

Roger loved all sports that involved kids, especially football. He enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports the most. He also loved to FaceTime with them, even though he couldn’t hear them very well!

Everyone that knew Roger was well aware of his love for discounts and deals. Penny sales were his favorite, but he once even gave away “diamond” necklaces. Everyone laughed because a magnifying glass was needed to see the “diamond”.

Roger never met a stranger and loved being with his friends and family. Even after he began having health problems of his own, he continued to check on and visit his friends. Everyone knew that if they needed Roger, he would be there.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son Brad Stansbury, and is survived by his beloved Patti, sons Brock Stansbury and wife Serena, Blake Stansbury, and Brett Stansbury and wife Olivia. His grandchildren include Isabella, Kaleb, Brooke, Annabel, Austin, Elayna, Alyssa, Emma, Nolan, and Adelia.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg with Bro. Joel Davis officiating; burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg. There was a visitation held before the service beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the church.
