Sherwood D. Sanders

Sherwood D. Sanders of Tennessee Colony passed away on April 6, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born in Choudrant, Louisiana on January 9, 1941, to Woodrow Andrew Sanders and Bonnie Beatrice Kerbow Sanders.

Mr. Sanders enjoyed singing and playing his guitar especially at church. He was a loving family man who was always talking about all his grandchildren. Sherwood enjoyed telling stories and had a strong sense of humor. He was also an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing were his favorite activities. Mr. Sanders was a very loved man by family and many friends.

Funeral services for Sherwood are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, at Judson Baptist Church in Cayuga. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Cross Roads Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Bonnie Sanders; sister, Joann Bopp; and first wife, Melba Sanders.

Mr. Sanders is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Sanders; sons, Mark Sanders and wife Krystal, Robert Miley and wife Stephanie; daughters, Denise Lassen and husband Kevin, Deanne Sewell and husband Scott, and Charity Miley; sisters, Faye Sanford, and Johnnie Mills; grandchildren, Lauren and husband Griffin, Dylan, Lance and wife Abby, Austin, Grayson, Collin, Kyle, Kole, Kade, Kaylee and husband Matt, Kaitlynn and husband Colton, Karlee and husband Josh, Colton, and Monica; and great-grandchildren, Keagan, Jordan, Reid, Austin, Hunter, Maddie.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas in Tyler and Judson Baptist Church.
