Quezada

Rebeca “Becky” Lara Quezada, 68, of Pittsburg Texas, was born in Artesia, N.M. on June 22, 1951. She died Aug. 7, 2019, in Mount Pleasant, Texas surrounded by family and friends.

Her celebration of life memorial service was held at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Texas on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019.

She married Ramon “Lazaro” Quezada in Carlsbad, N.M. June 21, 1972. She loved music, her family, friends, and making people laugh. Rebeca also enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola paraphernalia, playing Nintendo, Rummy, Spades, Phase 10, and drinking Sonic ice. When asked, “How old are you Mrs. Quezada?” she would say, “I’m 28,” and never aged from there. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godchildren, and her “other” children who called her mom. And, she claimed many as “my children.”

She is survived by her children, Angela Gamboa (Art) of Albuquerque, N.M., Raymond Quezada (Rhonda) of Pittsburg, Texas, Robert Quezada (Tammy) of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Lisa Quezada (Steve) of Pittsburg Texas, and Lena Quezada (Zac) of Kilgore, Texas. Four brothers, Adolfo “Billy” Ramirez (Gloria), Adam Ramirez (Kathy) of Albuquerque, N.M., Joe Ramirez (Elizabeth) of Torreon, N.M. and Frank Ramirez (Dolores) of Artesia, N.M.; one sister, Mary Ellen “Mayo” Salmon (Juan deceased) of Albuquerque, N.M. Twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, goddaughters, Karina Ray Vargas of Houston Texas, Mely Anchondo, Nora Anchondo, and Isabel Quezada of Chihuahua Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Maria Ramirez; brothers, Larry Ramirez (Talo) and Sammy Ramirez; sisters, Margie (Ray) Artiaga and Tomasita “Connie” (Elias) Doporto.

“Becky” brightened the lives of everyone who knew her with her smile, tender heart, sense of humor, and love of life. Even in her struggles, she trusted that somehow God was her strength.
