Mrs. Allyne Morris Poole, 93, of Gilmer, Texas died Monday, May 20, 2019 at her home in Gilmer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Edward Ridge, Bro. Michael Pool, Bro. David Kizer, and Bro. Ray Thompson officiating. Interment followed the service at Grice Cemetery.

In her childhood, Allyne attended the Soules Chapel and Grice Schools. After graduating from Harmony High School as valedictorian in 1944, Allyne worked as a telephone operator in the Gilmer office of Southwestern States Telephone Company.

Allyne was a pastor’s wife for 31 years and is beloved by many as a woman of faith with a generous heart. She and her husband, Bro. James Poole, also served as missionaries in the country of Uruguay.

Allyne’s greatest treasures were her family and her church family, Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Pittsburg. She loved Bible study, gardening, cooking new recipes and family favorites, and especially enjoyed gospel music. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed researching family genealogy.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always delighted to share photos of great-granddaughters, Molly and Kara.

Those who remain to cherish her memory and testimony are her daughter, Maeva Thompson and her husband, Ray; sisters, Norma Lyle and Faye Morris; two grandchildren, Melady Thompson, James Paul Thompson and his wife, Meagan; and two great-granddaughters, Molly Gail Thompson and Kara Elizabeth Thompson.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Poole; her parents, Comer and Mae Morris; brother, Lacy Morris; and one infant sister.
