Mary Jo Hoover

Funeral services for Mary Jo Hoover, 96, of Mt. Pleasant will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kyle Smith officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Jo passed away, Saturday, March 25, 2023, at her residence.

Jo was born on June 3, 1926, at Bogata, Texas to Rufus and Melva (Warren) Ward. She attended East Texas Baptist College and was a member of First Baptist Church in Pittsburg and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Jo worked at J.C. Penney in the credit department, Paris & Houston, and spent 11 years in the business office of ETMC Pittsburg.

She is survived by her son, David Hoover and his wife, Wyn; daughter, Mitzi Jones and her husband, Ronny; grandchildren, Stephanie Allen and husband, Charles, Leslie Lawrence, Heather Salomon and husband, Matthieu, Holly Self and husband Travis, Heath Hoover and wife Emma, Ben Jones and wife, Roxanne, Mark Jones and wife, Allie; great-grandchildren, Hope, Abby, Tristen, Madison, and C.J. Allen, Hugo and Mila Salomon, Aubry, Adaly, and Jhett Self, Eisley, Emerson, and Ruby Jones, Noah Jones, Ian and Ava Poague; brothers, Felix Ward and wife June, and Billy Ward and his wife Glenda; sisters, Merle Palmer, Mildred Gummett, Nina Couch, Shirley Anderson, Sandra Stockton and husband Don.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Melva Ward, husband, of 31 years, Rev. Floyd Hoover; son, Floyd Keith Hoover; and brothers, Rufus, John, Dean, Jerry, and Roger Ward, and great-granddaughter Aspen Jones.

Pallbearers will be Heath Hoover, Matthieu Salomon, Travis Self, Stan Anderson, David Anderson, and Brad Anderson.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until start of service at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
