King

Walter Michael King, better known as “Bird Dog”, 70, a Pittsburg native, died suddenly on November 2, 2018, at his home in Kilgore. He was born September 25, 1948, in Pittsburg, Texas, the son of late Travis Lamar King and Hortense King. He was one of four children. He served three years in the U.S. Army PV1. After his discharge, he was employed as a truck driver for many years and was also a bus driver for Mr. Ray Price. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister and survived by his twin brother, Steve King, of Mineola, Texas. He is loved and also survived by an extended family that goes far beyond any list that could be compiled. While he went by “Bird Dog” to all who knew him and never had children of his own, he was a man with many hats, he served as an honorary father, grandfather, uncle, godfather, and best friend to many and was a blessing to all. To know him was to love him. He had a smile that lit up any room. He was a simple man and lived a simple life, unimpressed by modern ways. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Myrtle Springs Church in Newsome. Anyone who would like to stand up and speak or have stories that they would like to share are encouraged to do so. We will gather in Newsome after the services to celebrate a life well lived.
