James Lee Hirsch

Memorial services for James Lee Hirsch, 79, of Mineola will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Mar. 12, 2022, at First Christian Church in Mineola with Pastor Craig Lacey officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Hirsch passed away Feb. 27, 2022, in Elkhart Oaks Care Center.

Jim was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Fredericksburg, TX to Eugene Edward and Lucille Fiedler Hirsch.

Jim and his wife, Rita Sue Weaver-Hirsch were married for 45 years. Jim a veteran served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army. He was a member of the Lutheran faith.

Jim was a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics on Dec. 19, 1975. He retired from Baylor Hospital as a Supervisor of the Cardio-Pulmonary Cath Lab.

He loved snow skiing, bowling and underwater photography. He also played softball, tennis, and golf. He loved riding horses. He showed in Hunter/Jumper and horse trail events with his beloved horse, Golden Giraffe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Sue Weaver-Hirsch; brother, Steve Hirsch and wife, Lyn of Virginia; sisters, Patricia Yarbrough of Ohio and Susan Little and husband, Dr. Dale Little of Lubbock and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Elkhart Oaks Care Center and Solaris Hospice for taking care of Mr. Hirsch.
