Graveside services for James T. “Pop” Ellison, 81, of Pittsburg will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Willow Oak Cemetery in Upshur County with Bro David Posey officiating. Interment will be in Willow Oak Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg, TX. James T. “Pop” Ellison passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his residence.

He was born August 20, 1939 in Upshur County to Chester Monroe Ellison and Mildred Margueritte Marr Ellison, Retired from Dorchester Refinery and Pilgrims Pride, Inc. Answered the call to preach in 1969 and pastored The Church of God of Prophecy in Pittsburg, Argo, Hagensport. Served on the board of the Pittsburg Rodeo Association for many years and was an avid horseman.

Survived by his wife of 63 years Joy McBride Ellison; sons, James C. and wife, Jeni and Bobby K. and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Marquishia and Jessa; great-grandchildren, Nyiah, Chloe, Christian, K.K. Ryder; four step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents and brother, Jerry Wayne Ellison.
