Mr. Benny Earl Burns, age 87, of Pittsburg, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home. He was born August 24, 1933 to Gordon and Virgie Bloodsworth Burns in Emory, Texas.

Mr. Burns served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955 where he served in communications during the Korean War. He spent his whole life being an Insurance Salesman, and retired at the age of 86 from his company Burns McElhaney Insurance Agency, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Efurd Burns; children, Cammy McElhaney and husband James, Keith Burns and wife Ronda, and Lori Richardson and boyfriend Clay Oldham; grandchildren, Joshua Burns and wife Lacey, Hannah Baker and husband Josh; great-grandchildren, Rhett Baker, Landri Burns; brother, Kenneth Burns and wife Mary, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday,

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg, with Rev. Jeff Dungan officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Pittsburg. Pallbearers will be Rick Dodson, Harold Kennington, John Cortelyou, Rickie Rape, Dr. Rodney Burrow, and Calvin Lamont, honorary pallbearers will be, Johnny French, John E. Smith, Paul Woodard, Tommy Goodwin, Jerry Richardson, Jim Harvey, and Hulan Moore. There will be a visitation held before the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg, 109 Collins Street, Pittsburg, TX 75686.
