Steel Magnolias meet at the Anvil
The ladies from the cast of Steel Magnolias met at the Anvil on June 9 to relax and get to know one another. The difference between this and any other ladies’ night out, was that they not only came in costume, but also in character.
“My goal in meeting at the Anvil with the characters fully in costume and in character was to let the cast fully bond to portray the deep friendships portrayed in Steel Magnolias,” Director Sheila Brown explained. “These ladies meet weekly at Truvy’s Beauty Spot for the latest hairdos and gossip. They have been in each other’s weddings, waited anxiously for children to be born, and have traded shoes, advice, and recipes for years. I wanted my cast of newcomers to form a tight friendship that would resonate on stage.”
Performances will be at Pittsburg High School July 22-24 and at the Winnsboro Center for the Arts July 29-30.
Tickets for Pittsburg performances can be purchased at the door, at local businesses, and by cast and Arts Council members.
