Pittsburg Camp County Arts Council hosts talent show

The Pittsburg Camp County Arts Council offered locals a chance to cool off during the hot July 4th weekend and celebrate all things arts. The newly-formed cultural organization hosted a local “Show Us Your Talent Show” audition and showcase event on July 3 at the Pittsburg High School Auditorium.

“It is the mission of the council to play a pivotal role in the overall social, cultural, and economic development of the Pittsburg Camp County community. “Our hope is that the Pittsburg Camp County Arts Council will encourage local participation of all ages and introduce the community to new arts activities, events and education, whether it be musical shows, theater, dance, design, drawing, or painting,” says PCCAC.

“We are open for business as an arts organization and want to provide opportunities throughout the year for young and old to share their artistic gifts,” Dr. Deb Porter, PCCAC board member, said. “We are excited to identify more local talent of all ages who would like to perform a tune or two, comedy routine or dance number. All talent will be considered for a wonderful family-friendly show as we celebrate our national holiday.”

Starting with open-call auditions from 12-3 p.m. July 3, local musicians, singers, dancers, painters, comedians, jugglers, sculptors, and anyone with talent of all ages were encouraged to perform before a three-judge panel for an opportunity to be included in that night’s talent show. The event, set for 5-7 p.m., also featured local favorites including comedian Jerry French and Deb Porter, singer/songwriter, as well as dulcimer performers, duets, and other local talent acts.
