Local nutrition shops offer excellence in flavor and nutrition
CJ Davidson has made quite a name for herself as the owner of Power Up and Up Step Nutrition. Davidson opened Up Step Nutrition on Oct. 23, 2019. Though owning a business was never a dream of hers, Davidson found that it was something she needed to do. After graduating high school, she started working as a teller at First National Bank Texas. Nine years later, and after many promotions, she was the bank manager.
“I was having trouble keeping my energy up, running a whole bank with several employees. I found this nutrition shop in Greenville and I started going there every day,” said Davidson. “My last day at the [bank] was Oct. 4. I just took a leap of faith and decided this is what I want to do.”
After receiving high demand for her teas, Davidson opened Power Up Nutrition ‘N Energy with her sister Laurencia Pharr in Mount Pleasant. She later encouraged her other sister, Rosa Lopez, to open her own nutrition store. Lopez soon opened Fly High Nutrition in Diana, Texas. With the great success of each store, Davidson decided to open another business with Lopez in Dangerfield called One Stop Nutrition ‘N Energy.
Each morning, the shops can be seen bursting with customers. Online orders roll in constantly, and even large catering orders are placed.
“I did not expect this to expand at this rate. It has not even been a year since I started [Up Step Nutrition],” expressed Davidson. “The main reason I opened this shop was to promote healthy energy and to help people better themselves.”
Davidson states that what she has learned with the businesses is that showing kindness is a skill that is unrivaled by any other.
“An act of kindness will open the greatest doors for you. Whether it’s helping with nutrition or giving out a message to the community,” told Davidson. “My greatest fear is a customer leaving unhappy. Sometimes owning a business is stressful. I work through what I can and then go home to my children.”
