Urgent blood shortage lingers, even as communities open up from pandemic

Piney Woods Regional Advisory Council – Trauma Service Area G urges eligible blood donors to give during chronically severe shortage

Blood is essential every day in hospitals. First responders and disaster preparedness professionals know it is important to maintain a strong community blood supply. That’s why the Piney Woods Regional Advisory Council – Trauma Service Area G (RAC-G) is hosting blood drives throughout East Texas on June 3 to help rebuild the blood supply. All blood drives are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 3, in various communities.

Atwoods Ranch & Home #65 is hosting a blood drive for the RAC-G at 2621 W. Ferguson Road in Mount Pleasant. Look for the Carter BloodCare bus in the parking lot. Appointments are encouraged, but not required. Donors can complete the medical history questionnaire online on the day of donation, before arriving to give blood. If donors had a COVID-19 vaccination, they are still eligible to donate blood.Atwoods Ranch & Home #65 is hosting a blood drive for the RAC-G at 2621 W. Ferguson Road in Mount Pleasant.
