Camp County EMS celebrates National EMS Week
Each year, EMS teams and programs across the US celebrate National EMS Week, which is dedicated to those who work as first responders and save lives every day. This year marked the 46th annual celebration.
“EMS Week is a perfect time to honor those frontline heroes dedicated to providing emergency medicine that saves so many lives every day. We understand that the 2020 EMS Week was probably not a top priority due to the COVID-19 crisis. This year’s campaign will focus on What EMS is and what we do,” said Camp County EMS.
The theme of the 2021 EMS Week is “THIS IS EMS: Caring for Our Communities.”
“This theme is particularly meaningful now, to remind people that every day we are still there to respond, support, and care for the needs of our communities,” Camp EMS said. “We send our best wishes for the constant safety and good health of all EMS personnel on the first lines who continue to take care of our communities.”
In celebration of this week, local entities and officials stepped up to show their appreciation for Camp County EMS. UT Health Pittsburg provided snacks and goodies to the team, and they were treated to a crawfish lunch at BoBo’s. Mayor David Abernathy also provided the following statement:
“This is the 46th annual National EMS Week and this year’s theme is ‘This Is EMS: Caring for Our Communities.’ That theme is so fitting for our local EMS, “Camp County Emergency Medical Service,” which started in 1979 as a whole-community project and continues to this day as a locally owned and operated service. It makes a big difference when you know the leadership and personnel and that they make their homes here,” said Mayor Abernathy. “We could very easily have had our EMS provided by a business headquartered in another part of the state or nation had it not been for community support and some very engaged individuals. And, far beyond just being local, we have one of the best trained, best equipped, best operated, and most dedicated group of EMS professionals found anywhere. Please join me in thanking and praising the staff of Camp County EMS.”
