Willis takes School Board Place 5

The school board race has concluded, and a new face will appear on the board. Mario Willis has won School Board Place 5 over incumbent and former School Board President Alan Brison, with a total of 363 votes to Brison’s 278.

Willis states that what the board needs is a change in current practices. He says he believes in being proactive and not reactive, and that PISD “can be exceptional with the right leadership.” He states that leading involves a certain amount of risk, determination and humility.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You guys stepped up to the plate and made your vote count,” said Willis upon winning the election. “I’m very thankful you guys chose me! One of the issues I ran on was transparency. It is how I ran my campaign from the beginning until the close of the polls, and I firmly believe it was a key to our success! This is only the beginning. I look forward to working with each and every board member to continue the tremendous work they do! If you helped with my campaign in any way I also want to thank you for supporting and believing in me.”
