CLAY

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our Dear Sister Willie Carol Clay who died suddenly on Thursday morning April 22nd at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler Texas at the age of 73.

Carol is the daughter of the late Willie and Faye Clay. She was the youngest of five girls; Faye Lanelle Roberts who preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn sisters Claudette Hamilton of Marana AZ, Rochelle (Thomas) Hill of Pittsburg Texas and Paulette Shaffner of Dallas Texas. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and other relatives and friends who love and are already missing her.

Carol was a member of the Douglass High School Class of 1965. She was a strong member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. It was the belief of many that she was the glue that held the church together after the deaths of her Aunt Nina and her mother.

Her funeral was Saturday, May 1. 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Bluff First Baptist Church, Pittsburg, with Rev. Byron Shaffner as eulogist, and burial was at Traylor Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Pittsburg, Texas.

Contributions to the Douglass Alumni Association are preferred to flowers.
