CCSO seeks information on thefts

The Camp County Sheriff ’s Office is investigating two thefts from motor vehicles that occurred earlier this week. Both were in the northern portion of the county.

“These burglaries occurred either in the late-night hours of April 19 or the early morning hours of April 20,” Sheriff John Cortelyou said.

In one case, a purse and wallet were missing from a vehicle on County Road 2214. A large sum of cash was also taken.

The second incident occurred on County Road 2215 where two vehicles were broken into. Nothing was taken from one of the vehicles, but the contents had been ransacked. Taken from the other vehicle were a wallet containing cash, and a handgun.

Anyone else who experienced a theft, or anyone with information on these cases, is asked to call the sheriff ’s office at 903-856-6651.

“If you saw anything you considered uncommon in this area during that time, please give us a call,” Sheriff Cortelyou said. “This is also a good time to remind everyone of the importance of locking your vehicle and not leaving valuables in plain sight.”
