• Phillip Hawkins defeats incumbent County Judge Larry McCasland.

• Laterius Bates signs football scholarship with the University of Arkansas. Richard Taylor signs with Southern Arkansas University.

• In Camp County, 3,253 votes are cast in Democratic primary election.

• A total of 34 votes were cast in the Republican primary election. Local voters favor Reagan over Ford in the presidential delegate contest, just as the voters of Texas did.
