SMITH

Bobbie Jo Smith, age 80, of Pittsburg, Texas, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family, friends, books, and all things she loved on Sunday, March 15th in Dallas, Texas.

Born July 20th, 1939 in Pittsburg, Texas to doting and devoted parents Ples T and Bessie Smith, the youngest of three siblings. Her parents emphasized the importance, faith, honesty and generosity, hard work and the central value of family.

A person of faith, Bobbie Jo was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Dignified, elegant, and kind, Bobbie Jo lived a life filled with adventures to the fullest on her own terms.

She is survived by daughter Angela Kay Gonzalez of Dallas, son in law Peter F. Gonzalez III of Dallas, son Sean J. Gallagher of Lafayette LA, grandson Morgan Gallagher of Lafayette LA, brothers Kenneth and Turner Smith (deceased) of Pittsburg, Texas. The family is specially grateful to her granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Gonzalez of Dallas for her unselfish dedication during her last days.

In place of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the many organizations or charities Bobbie Jo supported: The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, the North Texas Food Bank, God’s Closet-Camp County Cares.

An act of kindness to a friend, neighbor or stranger in need in your community will further honor her memory and celebrate the influence of a remarkable life.

Many thanks and appreciations to the nurses and caregivers at Walnut Place and Seasons Hospice for their care and dedication.

A private interment will take place in the family plot in Pittsburg, Texas.
