Gary George speaks to Kiwanis Club about situational awareness
Last Thursday at the weekly Kiwanis meeting, Gary George, head of First Baptist Church’s security team, spoke to members about the importance of situational awareness and reacting constructively in active shooter situations. George has been chair of the security team since it began around two years ago and has previous experience in law. George defines situational awareness as attention to concrete tension. “What is going on or is is the situation escalating? Is the situation static or is the situation down? You’re going to take that information and you’re going to project based on what you know and what you see. You’re going to project what the status of that is going to be in the future. That’s the technique of situational awareness.,” George said.
