Commissioners hear from NETCAC and Chamber

At the regular meeting of the Camp County Commissioners, the commissioners heard from Lauren Zastney, the executive director of Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center (NETCAC) regarding funding for Child Safety Fees. Zastney shares they, “Advocate for child abuse victims and provide mental health services and family support at no cost to the family.” In the 2022-2023, NETCAC served 75 children from Camp County and this ammounts to approximately $2,000 per family. There was no action for the commissioners to take at this time, and they plan to meet with NETCAC again in the near future.

A native to Pittsburg, Tashunka Smith has been the prime organizer of the Juneteenth celebrations in town. Smith, along with her social club, Ladies and Gentlemen Socialites (LAGS), have founded Pittsburg’s Juneteenth celebrations, and this year features the second annual celebration.
