2023 Hee Haw’s Back in Town

Twenty-five years ago, Elizabeth Reynolds Lawton and I were senior class sponsors at Pittsburg High School. We were trying to figure out an easy fundraiser to help pay for prom decorations. Several years prior, Ann Beane had written a script for a Hee Haw play, and if I remember correctly, it was only about three pages. The last script that I wrote for the 2008 senior class was twenty-five pages. Elizabeth and I surveyed the class and decided doing Hee Haw would be something fun for the class and us to do. Little did either of us know that this simple play would turn into a major production with guest singers as talented as the stars at Branson.

March is Women’s History Month! Women’s History Month is celebrated as a way to honor the contributions women have made to society throughout history. It is a month that is focused on educating people about the important impacts powerful women have made, in both the past and the present. The colors of Women’s History Month are purple, green, and white. Each of these colors has their roots in the suffrage movement but continue to have modern meanings today. White represents equality, truth, and freedom. Green represents hope and growth.
