School Board election to take place May 1

City election canceled for lack of opposition

On May 1, Pittsburg voters will decide who is elected to the Pittsburg Independent School District Board. Running for Place 5 on the board are Mario Willis and Alan Brison.

Willis’s platform is based upon change in current practices. Willis says he believes in being proactive and not reactive, and that PISD “can be exceptional with the right leadership.” He states that leading involves a certain amount of risk, determination and humility.

Brison is an incumbent in this position and currently serves as School Board President. His platform includes continued growth for the district in academics, finances, personnel, and facilities. Brison has served on the school board for 21 years.

In City Council elections, incumbents ran unopposed to maintain their seats, which meant that the May 1 election could be canceled. Todd Diviney will remain in Place 3 on the council, and John Livingston will maintain Place 5.
