Locals band together to help family after devastating loss

Last Tuesday, a fire ravaged the home of local residents Tracie and Willie Jones. The couple lost their home and everything in it. With no insurance to cover anything, the Joneses were at a total loss. Then, Cherie McGahee stepped in to help.

McGahee immediately took to social media to begin gathering supplies, furniture, and monetary donations for the Joneses. According to Tracie Jones, the support and generosity of the community has been overwhelming. Jones said they are staying in a safe home and have received enough furniture to fill a storage unit. There have also been numerous monetary contributions.

“People can send us love and prayers, but we are good now,” she said. “I’m so thankful for Cherie and everyone who helped us.”
