Junior Ranger program returns to Lake Bob Sandlin
Children visiting Lake Bob Sandlin State park have a variety of activities to participate in. From swimming and boating to hiking and camping, there is plenty to do in and out of the water.
Children can pick up a free Junior Ranger Journal when they visit any state park, including Lake Bob Sandlin. When they complete a certain number of activities (depending on their age), they earn a Junior Ranger pin. Complete a journal for each park–the activities are the same, but your child’s experiences will be different because each park is different.
Lake Bob Sandlin also has Junior Ranger Explorer Packs at park headquarters. Children can borrow one for their next park visit. Each backpack comes with a pair of binoculars and a magnifying glass; an animal tracking key and guides to flowers, birds, butterflies, trees, rocks, wildflowers and plants; and pencil, crayons and watercolors along with a journal and sketchbook. Use of the daypacks were suspended last year due to the pandemic, so contact the park at (940) 202-9141 to see if daypack use is available at Lake Bob Sandlin.
Mini Explorer Packs can also be found at some park stores, for children to explore in their own backyard.
