NTCC accepting students for free GED, ESL classes

The Adult Education Department at Northeast Texas Community College is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration. While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center ( formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant. Please call 903-434-8341 for an appointment. In-person, remote, and online self-paced options will be available. “Today concluded our Pittsburg Pirate Football Camp! It was a very exciting 3 days, where we truly feel our athletes that attended became not only better athletes but also young men of character,” said athletic director Triston Abron. “In today’s competition, we found out who had the best punting skills! Winning the 6th/7th grade group was Jeremiah Flores. Winning the 8th grade group was Nick Styles. The freshman group was won by Landon Graham... We are very excited about this year and the years to come in the Pittsburg Pirate Football Program. Stay hungry and Let’s EAT!”

The most expensive American car ever sold in an auction was a Shelby Cobra, which netted 14 million dollars, in 2016. In 2019, the Academy-Award-winning sports drama film, Ford v Ferrari, featured star actor, Matt Damon, playing the role of Shelby.

Ideal Impact energy efficiency project begins at NTCC

On Wednesday, July 28, Ideal Impact will begin working on the NTCC campus. Ideal Impact is a consulting firm that works with schools and churches to maximize energy efficiency and save a significant amount of money for the institution over time. The project will include implementing new HVAC software, weatherization and other upgrades to improve efficiency at the college.

Mr. Gilbert Wilson (right), of Pittsburg, recently gave $1,000 to the Northeast Texas Community College Foundation. Dr. Jonathan McCullough (left), NTCC Executive Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the donation. The gift will go toward the Wilson Family Scholarship, which is named in memory of Mr. Wilson’s parents. The perpetual scholarship provides deserving NTCC students scholarships each year.
