Historic winter storm hits Texas

Mother nature decided to bless the state of Texas with a winter storm for the first time in decades from Feb.14 to Feb. 18. Everyone knows that in Texas it doesn’t snow. The lone star state is known for its summers over 100 degrees not its winters under 30 but that wasn’t the case this year. The winter storm, named Uri, hit all 254 counties in Texas and led to the state declaring emergency.

City, County work together to ensure public safety

Local government planning for the recent record-breaking back-to-back winter storms started the week prior to their arrival. Meetings and situational awareness briefings and updates were conducted throughout the storms between City of Pittsburg and Camp County officials and respective departments, and other local entities such as the Pittsburg ISD, UT Health Pittsburg hospital, and Camp County EMS.
