The day many parents have been waiting for is right around the corner, as Texas conducts its annual Tax-Free weekend, a “sales tax holiday” where parents can save money on tax-free purchases of clothing, footwear, backpacks and other school supplies. This year, the sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 am on Friday, August 6, and runs through Sunday, August 8.

The order has been drawn for eight proposed amendments to the much-amended Texas Constitution that will appear on the Nov. 2 ballot. The proposed amendments were approved by at least two thirds of both houses of the state Legislature. According to the Austin American-Statesman, they include:
The Camp County Public Library Budget for the fiscal year was approved unanimously. The budget increased from $201,670 for the fiscal year 2020- 2021, to $207,275.90 for the fiscal year 2021-2022. This is an increase of $5,605.90. Most of this increase is due to the higher cost of building insurance amounting to nearly $1,100. (This higher cost in insurance was noted by Council Member Livingston to be a result of higher costs in building materials which have been sweeping the country.)
Mayor David Abernathy expressed some concerns over difficulties that the Texas schools may face in the coming weeks. Guidance from the CDC is conflicting with reports from Austin, and it may be that teachers will find themselves between a rock and a hard place.
