Tina Breen (left) took first place at the Gumbo Cookoff, held on Feb. 26 at the Thunderbird Volunteer Fire Department. Her gumbo featured chicken, sausage, and shrimp. Second place went to Mr. Scott’s (center) chicken and sausage gumbo, and third place was taken by Beverley Theriot (right), also with chicken and sausage gumbo. Four decadent desserts were sold at auction, Judge AJ Mason officiated as auctioneer, for between $30 and $50.
