Today the Camp County Commissioners Court adopted the 2023 budget and tax rate. The court voted to lower the tax rate three cents from .4689 to .4389 cents per $100 of property valuation. This budget addresses key areas including employee retention, road funding, law enforcement and fire protection.
The Camp County Commissioners Court accepted a donation from Ashley Willson, General Manager of Elliot Ford Auto Group in Mount Pleasant, for the construction of a historical marker in the memory of Carroll Shelby—auto designer, race driver, and entrepreneur.

The Camp County Republican Club hosted a Town Hall-style meeting on August 25 at LaLa Pops, appropriately dubbed Ice Cream and Issues. Invited guest speakers were County Judge AJ Mason, Christian Yantis, and Terry Waldrep, superintendent of Pittsburg ISD. Judge AJ Mason discussed the recent adoption of the 2022-2023 budget and 2022 tax rate, and the county’s intent to utilize American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, offered for Covid relief, to expand the jail to 52 beds and include a padded cell.
