There is a contemporary Christian music song from back in the 90’s that starts off with the line that the single greatest cause of atheism in the world is Christians who profess Jesus with their lips but deny Him by their lifestyle and that is what an unbelieving world simply finds, unbelievable.
The oldest documented grave in this cemetery, that of Louise Gillum, dates to 1859. The land was acquired by John Riley, Sr., in 1875, and became known as Riley Cemetery. Early settlers buried here include John and Elizabeth Keeling Riley and their five children; Confederate Capt. George W. Keeling, a former member of the Georgia State Legislature; the family of M.H. Couch, whose name graces Couch Mountain, Camp County’s highest elevation point; and many area pioneers whose descendants continue to live in the area and maintain the historic graveyard. –Historical Marker, #9807
Mrs. Joyce Laverne Bradshaw Efurd, age 92, of Pittsburg passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 in Rayne, Louisiana surrounded by her family. She was born January 2, 1930 to Clyde Bradshaw and Lillie Mae Carter Bradshaw in Pittsburg, TX.
On Wednesday, June 29 2022, Sam Fields, loving mother of three and grandmother to 6, passed in the early hours of the morning at the age of 65.
