Mental health patients who are charged with a crime is an ongoing problem at the Camp County Jail, plus it is costing Camp County taxpayers’ money while these patients wait for a bed in a state mental facility. On average, these inmates are being held locally for up to 18 months, which is neither fair to the county nor the inmate, according to Camp County Sheriff John Cortelyou.

Senior LyLy Lemelle was recognized on the evening of January 6 before the varsity basketball game as she was inducted into the GLP 1,000 Point Club. Lemelle scored her 1,000th point on December 9 during the Aggieland tournament after working towards this goal for four years. Natalie Styles is the only other member of GLP to accomplish this achievement.
