20th Century Club presents marker to Carson House

A metal marker, identifying the Carson House as a historical home in Pittsburg, was installed in front of this home by the efforts and donations of the ladies of the 20th Century Club. Built by Pierce Ligon in 1878 before Pittsburg was an incorporated city, the Carson House was bought by its namesake William Henry Carson, in 1887, and doubled as a boarding house for several years.

Kyla Griffin (right) and Demaria Lydia (left) competed at the State Powerlifting Meet on March 17. Griffin finished fifth overall in her weight division and also received Academic All-State Elite team. Griffin, who has spent four years of committed effort to PISD powerlifting has helped to build this program. Lydia tied for fifth place in her weight division but placed sixth due to tiebreaker rules. She plans to be back again next year. Both young ladies worked very hard for these medals, as powerlifting is not for the faint of heart--literally.
