Dr. Rodney Burrow appointed to Texas Board of Criminal Justice

Dr. Rodney Burrow was appointed to the Texas Board of Criminal Justice in May, becoming the first doctor to hold a seat on the board. This appointment comes after two years of service as chairman of the Correctional Managed Health Care Committee (CMHCC). CMHCC organizes the creation of statewide policies for correctional health care and is under the board on which Burrow now sits.

Governor Abbott suspends reopening as COVID-19 cases increase

On June 26, Governor Greg Abbott issued the latest executive order regarding the reopening of the state. Abbott has suspended elements of the initial reopening plans and taken a step toward earlier protocols, due to “substantial increase” in COVID-19 cases in the state. Abbott said in the order that an increase in cases was expected during the reopening phase, but that the results require “targeted and temporary adjustments” to the plan.

Camp County sees second COVID-19 death, continued increase in positive cases

COVID-19 cases have continued to increase in Camp and adjacent counties in recent weeks, and on June 24, County Judge AJ Mason announced the second fatality due to COVID-19 in the county in the last 14 days.
